According to available historical references, it was built between the late 18th and early 19th century. Throughout the years it has received other names such as the Carbonera, de Baix, Maset or de Montaner watermill. Of the nine mills along the Reg Major, also known as the S\u00e9quia Mare water canal network, most of them made flour, six were located in l\u00b4Alf\u00e0s del Pi and were of great importance for the region\u00b4s economy until the mid 20th century. The mill had two separate parts, the first floor that was the home of the miller, his family and the workers, and the bottom floor where the machinery and other necessary tools for milling the grain were located. The water fell down a 9 metre tube and moved the two wooden wheels under the mill. The wheels, turning on an iron axis, would move rotating the stones that milled the cereal. This is the traditional system of hydraulic mills in Valencia, a technique that dates back to the Middle Ages and has remained hardly unchanged.
