Bodega Mendoza winemakers began in 1989 as a family business although the project was already in mind in the late 70s when Enrique Mendoza, as a collector, began to buy, collect and invest in wines from other winemakers.
Later on, recovering the family tradition in the Marina Baixa region of producing wine for the family´s consumption, the first 2.000 plants were planted in what has taken 25 years to become a winery in l´Alfàs del Pi, with 1.400 barrels made from the best American and French forests. From l´Alfàs these wines are bottled and distributed among national and international markets. There are also 4,5 hectares of Alejandría Muscatel.
The second winery, located in Finca Chaconero in Villena, has the best technology and facilities for fermenting the grapes that come from 80 hectares (250.000 plants) of the following varieties: Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot, Petit Verdot, Shiraz and Monastrell.
The knowledge of Bodegas Mendoza on viticulture has lead them to create grapes free of herbicides and insecticides that are only nourished with compost. Their vineyards are managed scientifically, based on dendrometry (a technique that controls the plant´s water stress) and precision viticulture.
L’Alfàs del Pi is a member of the Spanish government´s regulating council of the Spanish Association of Wine Cities that recognizes 31 official routes associated to wine tourism in our country.
Thanks to Bodegas Mendoza winemakers we are a destination for the regulating council´s Wine Routes in Alicante province which promotes the province´s landscapes through the wines that are produced in areas such as Vinalopó, the Marinas Alta and, of course, Marina Baixa, where we are a great attraction point.
